Get out and VOTE - but please by sexy while doing it!

Posted by Melanie on October 2 at 3:10 PM Jessica Alba's new Declare Yourself ad has creating quite a stir on the blogosphere.

In the second installment of Alba's "Silence Yourself" campgain for the voting awareness group, the actress dons a Hannibal Lecter-type mask called The Muzzler and a teary grimace.

Explaining her passion for the campaign, Alba said, "If you don't register and vote and make a difference, and hopefully change the bad things that are happening in our country, you are essentially just binding and muzzling yourself."

Although the creepy mask seems to be causing most of the buzz, I can't help noting the underlying sexuality of the shot (she does appear to be naked and glistening with obvious makeup and retouching, after all).  Could this have something to do with a desire to regain her vampy image after giving birth to her first child 2 months ago?

Alba's phsyics-defying race to regain her pre-baby figure is just another example of the extreme pressures placed on Hollywood actresses to meet a physical ideal.  And that mold is of course passed on to the rest of young women in America - the very same audience which she is appealing to empower in her ad.  Is she sending a mixed message?
